Press Release — Brihat Hawan Through a Scientific Lens

7 Baishakha 2083 (April 20, 2026), Pashupati, Kathmandu – To reconnect fast-paced modern life with balance, wellness, and practical Vedic wisdom, Om Vedic Foundation successfully organized a Brihat Hawan as part of its annual ceremonial initiative, unveiling a research-based scientific perspective on Hawan. The program aimed to align traditional Vedic practices with modern karma, lifestyle, and wellbeing.

The Foundation envisions developing a spiritual economy grounded in Vedic science within the global community. Its mission is to establish a world-class education and research center in Nepal, fostering social transformation and holistic life improvement through systematic Vedic education and scientific research.

As part of this vision, Om Vedic Foundation has launched an Annual Hawan Ceremony Initiative dedicated to the holistic wellbeing of its members, followers, and people worldwide. This initiative also marks the beginning of a long-term journey to conduct similar programs across different countries, promoting Vedic wellness on a global scale.

The ceremony commenced with an opening address by Mr. Devaraj Gautam, Chief Executive Officer of Om Vedic Foundation, who highlighted the Foundation’s ongoing collaborations with scientists and astrologers. He shared insights into current and upcoming research initiatives that aim to promote alternative wellness approaches and a modern Vedic lifestyle grounded in scientific understanding.

Dr. Kanti Shrestha, former Chief Scientific Officer at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), CEO of Nature’s Molecule Industry, and a scientist at Om Vedic Foundation, presented key findings from research conducted on Hawan practices. Addressing the audience in an open natural setting at Nepal Bedbikash Secondary School, Pashupati area, she explained the scientific basis of Hawan, emphasizing the role of medicinal plants, camphor roots, traditional herbs, and incense in air purification, environmental balance, and human wellbeing.

Adding to the discourse, Dr. Subash Pyakurel, a pioneer in health-sector digitization and a respected medical expert, stressed the importance of building a meaningful bridge between modern science and traditional Vedic science. He emphasized the need to present Vedic knowledge in simple and accessible terms, helping the general public better understand its relevance in daily modern life.

Mr. Ram Babu Shah, Patron Member of Om Vedic Foundation since its inception, expressed heartfelt gratitude to chief guests, speakers, participants, technical teams, volunteers, event managers, and well-wishers. He led the Hawan proceedings with devotion and dedication, offering prayers for universal wellbeing, and reaffirmed his strong support for continuing the Annual Hawan Initiative every year on Akshayatritiya.

Concluding the program, the Chief Guest, Acharya Laxman Panthi, Executive Director of Nepal Panchanga Nirmayak Bikash Samiti, spoke on the deep connection between the Vedas and practical everyday life. He highlighted the significance of Hawan not only for personal health and alternative wellness practices, but also for environmental preservation. Appreciating Om Vedic Foundation’s initiatives, he lauded the Online Gurukul program and the annual Hawan ceremony as impactful steps toward collective wellbeing and conscious living.
